Hendrick’s Park, 2014

For years, I have been trying to plan a trip to the rhododendron gardens just right.  I always seem to miss it.  A couple weeks ago, I was sitting in my living room, looking at our beautiful red rhody, my neighbor’s purple one, and another neighbor’s yellow one.  It hit me.  This was the perfect weekend to go.  So we went.  And it was perfect.

And Then They - Bleeding Hearts And Then They - Family And Then They - Gazing And Then They - WalkingI love that we are able to expose our kids to nature so easily.  We are so blessed to live in a place with nature so nearby.  Even though Hendrick’s Park is a very landscaped, planned garden, it feels wild and natural.  It rises above the city, and surrounds you with flowers, and branches.

It is lovely.  And I’m really proud that we finally went right on time.

A Little Moment 10

I am grading persuasive essays. This is actually many of my little moments these days.

A moment alone at one of my favorite places in the world.

Friday Gratitudes 11

Friday the 14th: Patience.  I totally lost my voice and my students were amazingly patient.

Saturday the 15th: Novruz!  Fire jumping, egg cracking, baklava eating!

Sunday the 16th: Dad’s. Dinner at my dad’s was great.

Monday the 17th: Voice.

Tuesday the 18th: Fenugreek.  Holy milk.  Thank God for this little miracle.

Wednesday the 19th: Students. I asked a lot from my kids for the last day before spring break and they rose to the challenge beautifully. Mock trials, Socratic seminars.  Amazing.

Thursday the 20th: SPRING!

A Little Moment 8

Alma got her third two year molar (only one to go! Yay! ).

Harriet got her very first tooth (ohmygosh still so many left….).

I survived two mock trials, two Socratic seminars, and two movies on the last day of school before spring break.

Jesse is just generally fantastic.

A Little Moment 7

My lunch view for the next seven weeks. The inside of a closet while I pump.

So beautiful.

Birthday Sunshine

My birthday is in February.  I’m sure you’re thinking it’s usually dreary and sad outside.  For some reason, most of my birthdays are sunny and warm!  We usually get some really beautiful weather in the end of February, and I’m lucky enough to get to enjoy it on my birthday most years.  I think it snowed a couple years ago, which is also fun.

The girls and I took advantage of the beautiful day to play in the backyard.  I even got some yard work done.  Alma helped, obviously.

Rainy Days Don’t Bring Us Down

And Then They - Happy BirthdayToday I turn 33.  The flowers are starting to poke through the dark dirt.  The sky is brightening.  My early mornings aren’t feeling so early, now that the sun is joining us for more of our days.

Thirty-three is going to be an exciting, life changing year.  I have plans and ideas.  Hopes and dreams.  This is my year, with my family standing with me, cheering me on.
